Baagh – the Tiger is set to roam around Dhaka!

‘Bagh‘ – the tiger is an app-based eco-friendly electric three-wheeler eco-taxi, Made in Bangladesh. After three and a half years of preparation, the eco-friendly vehicle will finally hit the roads of the country from April.

In the meantime, Baagh Eco Motors Limited has got the permission of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) to market the taxi.

Kazi Jasimul Islam Bappi, President of the organization, said that the dream came true on Sunday (March 20) after 42 months. The government has registered the Bangladeshi brand ‘Baagh‘. Now it’s time to start mass production.

He told Digibangla, “There is no obstacle left for ‘Baagh’ (tigers) to walk on the roads of the country. This is the first time in the country that an eco-friendly electric three-wheeler has been legalized. It will hit the streets of Dhaka next month. People of Bangladesh will see a world class ‘Made in Bangladesh’ vehicle. We hope to bring electric buses and trucks on the road soon.”

Mr. Bappi hopes that this taxi with the words ‘Made in Bangladesh’ will soon hit the roads of the country as well as India. And it was realized that this is not an illusory dream in its electricity saving news. Because ‘the cost of electricity charged in this car will be reduced. Whereas earlier the cost per unit was 17 taka but the Baagh will charge Taka 7 only per unit’.

‘It will cost 40-45 paisa per kilometer. Once charged will run 120 kilometers. Solar power will run another 25 to 30 kilometers. The battery has a five year warranty. Also the service warranty is available for two years. The soundless taxi will be insured by the first party. It goes without no or little maintenance cost, said Bappi.

In the meantime, some experimental taxis have been made in the factory at Gazipur in Dhaka. He thinks that it is possible to earn foreign exchange by exporting it with the patronage of the government.
